The AI talent market has crossed an important threshold. Companies are no longer asking whether they should experiment with artificial intelligence. They are asking who will connect it to their data, applications, controls and operating processes — and who will be accountable for the result.

World Economic Forum: AI skills and roles are among the fastest growing

The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025 draws on more than 1,000 employers representing over 14 million workers. It identifies AI and machine-learning specialists among the fastest-growing jobs through 2030. AI and big data also rank as the fastest-growing skill category, while 86% of surveyed employers expect AI and information-processing technologies to transform their businesses.

LinkedIn: AI Engineer reached the top of Jobs on the Rise

LinkedIn ranked Artificial Intelligence Engineer as the fastest-growing job in the United States in its 2025 Jobs on the Rise analysis. Its 2026 research shows continued momentum across technical and strategic AI roles, including AI engineers, AI consultants and data annotators.

Stanford AI Index: organizational adoption is accelerating

The Stanford AI Index reported that 78% of organizations used AI in 2024, up from 55% in 2023. The 2026 edition reports that organizational adoption continued to rise in 2025. As adoption spreads, companies need more people capable of deploying, integrating, evaluating and governing AI in production.

The AI bottleneck is moving from access to execution. Models are increasingly available. Engineers who can make them useful, reliable and measurable are not.

The seven newly requested roles include AI Engineer, GTM Engineer, Senior GTM Engineer, Junior GTM Engineer, Workato Engineer, Salesforce Developer and Senior Software Engineer. The pattern is clear: businesses need technical people who can connect intelligence to workflows, applications and measurable operating results.

Measurement note: These figures describe Exordiom’s first-party placement cohort. “Fastest-expanding” refers to the arrival of seven new titles inside the AI, data and engineering category; it is not presented as a market-wide labor statistic. The 58% figure covers 2026 H2 starts through 19 August.

Why India is becoming central to the solution

India combines a large engineering base with deep experience in enterprise software, cloud platforms, data infrastructure and automation. Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune have developed dense technology ecosystems capable of supporting both established software roles and the newer disciplines emerging around AI.

India represented none of Exordiom’s starts through 2025. By the second half of 2026 through August 19, it represented 58% of new starts — driven primarily by AI, data and engineering demand.
