What a QA automation engineer works on

• Turn acceptance criteria into test cases and decide what to automate, what to test by hand and what to skip
• Build end-to-end suites in Playwright, Cypress or Selenium using page objects and stable selectors
• Cover APIs with contract and integration tests so most checks run below the UI
• Run suites in parallel inside GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins and block merges that break them
• Hunt down flaky tests, quarantine them and fix the timing or data issue behind each one
• Seed and reset test data, mock third-party services and keep staging close to production
• File clear bug reports with steps, logs and video, then confirm each fix before release
